Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw Encourages LA Students on Instagram

The world is a mess right now, and fans are in desperate need of baseball. While we cannot get that for quite some time, it’s good to at least hear from the players. The Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw took the time today to reach out to kids and students of Los Angeles to encourage them during this strange time in their lives. Here is what Kershaw said:

I know this is a very uncertain time for y’all, and for us too. Just want you to know that we’re all in this together. Now that schools gonna be online, you’re gonna be at home I hope everybody stays focused and tries to learn as much as they can at home and do your absolute best still at home. I know it’s not going to be easy, but have fun and we’re all at home so we’re all in this together. And hopefully we get to see y’all soon up at the stadium.

Kershaw took the opportunity to reach out to the youth of Los Angeles through the Dodgers Foundation’s Instagram page. The Foundation aims at helping at-risk and underserved youths have a better chance an education, health, and physical activity.

The message from the Dodgers’ pitcher comes just days after Los Angeles shut down schools in LA Unified School District, and it’s looking like schools will be closed through the remainder of the school year. Mayor Eric Garcetti recently closed down much of Los Angeles as well, limiting restaurants, gyms, and many youth programs.

Youth sports in general have a temporary hold placed on them, as Los Angeles aims to enforce the “no large gatherings” rules sweeping across the nation. The Dodgers’ Foundation has temporarily halted all events. The anticipated return date is not until April, at the earliest.
