Clayton Kershaw has always embodied class as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers and as a member of the Los Angeles community. He is largely considered one of the best pitchers of all-time, not just in Dodgers history. As the Los Angeles community and sports fans everywhere mourn the loss of the late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, Kershaw took the time to acknowledge the presence of Bryant. From a Dodgers legend to a Lakers legend, it obviously stings for Kershaw.
Kershaw on Kobe: “It’s so devastating. I got to meet him a few times. What everybody said about him, you just felt that in the room as far as his presence and just what he meant to this city.” pic.twitter.com/KeU51Zqpph

Clayton Kershaw discussed the loss of Kobe Bryant and said that he had met him on multiple occasions. Kershaw, a family man who obviously loves his spouse very much and has a daughter of his own, it hits home for him:
“It’s so devastating. I got to meet him a few times and what everyone says about him, you just felt it in the room…his presence. He meant so much to the city. Being here and playing sports here now for 12 years, everyone talks about Kobe. He’s the guy. You feel for everyone and you feel the impact even if you didn’t know him. The people who watched him play basketball, his wife and daughters, I just feel terrible. I hope they can find some comfort in the legacy that he left and just the millions of people he impacted.”
Kershaw is right. Nobody should ever have to go through something so painful and awful. It’s hard to fathom it.
“You can’t even fathom something like that. To lose a spouse and a kid in the same day — nobody should ever have to go through that. I’m hoping that they find the strength somewhere.”
Clayton Kershaw and Kobe Bryant are two legends who are immortalized in the lore of Los Angeles sports and this one will sting for everyone forever.
