Dodgers: Corey Seager Ranks Amongst Top 10 Shortstops, Per ESPN

The Dodgers have been blessed to have such an excellent infield over the last few seasons with Corey Seager in the fray.

In recent columns by Buster Olney of ESPN, Olney dives into his top ten positional rankings in Major League Baseball and the Dodgers are represented.

Next up is the shortstop list where Corey Seager checks in at ninth overall on the board. He places above young star Fernando Tatis Jr., Gleyber Torres, and Trea Turner.

Here is what Olney had to say specifically about Seager:

“Seager led the NL with 44 doubles among his 64 extra-base hits last season. As with Correa, the upcoming season will go a long way toward building parameters around Seager’s free agency, which follows the 2021 season.”

At times, Corey Seager looked like the Corey Seager of old — the one without before the hip and Tommy John procedures. That is who the Dodgers are hoping they can get over at shortstop in 2020.

The Dodgers have been in trade talks all winter with Corey Seager being the center of attention with many teams. Most recently, the Cincinnati Reds demonstrated interest and we know that the Cleveland Indians had at least some level of interest in him. Seager could return to his MVP caliber ways in 2020 after a full year of recovery — it might be a good bet to make.
