Dodgers Minor League Coach Tarrik Brock Hired by Pirates

The Dodgers have been pretty fortunate this off-season to be able to keep a lot of their coaches who were rumored to be in talks for jobs with other teams. However, the case of Tarrik Brock is different.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Pittsburgh Pirates have hired away Brock to be their major league first base coach. He will also serve the same duties in Pittsburgh as he did in Los Angeles as an outfield and baserunning coordinator.

Brock has coaching experience at the major league level as he was a first base coach for the Houston Astros in 2014 (before they cheated) and the San Diego Padres in 2016.

Brock played in just one major league season with the Chicago Cubs back in 2000 despite being a first round pick (ninth overall) back in 1996. Since then, he has cultivated an excellent reputation around Major League Baseball with his coaching techniques.

Although Brock is a loss for the Dodgers’ minor league development system, they have been very fortunate to keep members of their coaching staff like bench coach Bob Geren and new pitching coach Mark Prior within the organization.
