Last week the Dodgers hosted 300 students at Dodger Stadium for the club’s annual children’s holiday party. Clayton Kershaw, Alex Verdugo, Matt Beaty and an alumni group featuring Al “The Bull” Ferrara, Dennis Powell, Billy Ashley, and Matt Luke joined the students in a day of fun, games, and presents!
Playworks Southern California, a leading nonprofit in the LA community put together a fun-filled day of inclusive games and activities designed to build a “positive play environment through energy and imagination.”
On the event and the kids, Alex Verdugo was excited.
I love it, man. I’m still young myself, so to be able to come out here and have a good time with these kids… it’s something that when I was a little kid I wish I would have been able to experience it or go out to one of the big league teams and hang out with some big leaguers.
Matt Beaty also experienced the event for the first time and enjoyed the day.
Yeah, that was fun. Come out here and everybody’s having a good time — smiling, laughing, throwing snowballs, making snowmen… it was really cool.
The day ended with the students walking away with gifts — including new shoes, thanks to Sketchers and Clayton Kershaw — and smiles, but most importantly memories that will last a lifetime.
