Dodgers: Justin Turner Talks About Abrupt End to 2019 Postseason

Dodgers veteran third baseman Justin Turner sat down with Petros and Money at AM570 on Wednesday to catch up on what’s been a busy off-season for him and the club. It’s also been a longer than expected off-season after the Dodgers got unexpectedly bounced in the first round of the playoffs.

And that’s exactly what he’s talking about here in this video.

Every off-season you don’t win that last game, it hurts for a long time — it still hurts… and this one was really painful. Going out in the first like that, that wasn’t supposed to happen — having to watch baseball for the first time in two years sucked. … but then you just try to move on.

As Petros notes, the team and fans share in the same disappointment. And the off-season has been one of the more disappointing from Los Angeles in some time, especially after a record regular season.

Turner says he gets and feels the frustration of the fan base.

I totally understand where the fans are coming from and I try to let everyone know, look, we’re just as devastated, we’re just as pissed off — we have all the same emotions that you have probably tenfold. But we get it. I mean, how many years in a row can you say, ‘oh but we got a lot to be proud of’ as an excuse for not holding that trophy? We want to be the last team standing, but honestly, we’re running out of excuses here — we gotta get this thing done.

The third baseman goes on to say that he does replay the games and moments in his head, particularly his own. Whether it’s an impatient at-bat against Stephen Strasburg or a ball that tips off his glove, he says “there’s so much stuff you think about at night when your head’s on the pillow and it’s tough.”
