Dodgers News: Team Considering New Position For Gavin Lux

Recently, the Los Angeles Dodgers were reported to be rebuking teams on asking for prize youngster Gavin Lux. Therefore, the question becomes what do the Dodgers do moving forward with all the infielders they will have if no trade is made, and they sign an Anthony Rendon for the hot corner.

Now, recall this ‘log-jam’ scenario presented by Jon Heyman if the Dodgers were to sign said marquee third baseman.

Finally, consider the big bit of news this post is based upon. Notably on Tuesday, Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told Ken Gurnick of MLB.com that the team is considering Lux as an outfielder for the upcoming season.

In addition, Roberts tells Pedro Moura that we could see Lux ‘on the grass’ in 2020 for the Dodgers. Of course in manager-speak – this would mean trying Lux’s versatility at an outfield position – presumably in left-field.

Altogether, the Dodgers seem to feel confident in the versatility of their players. Right now between Justin Turner, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, and the other cast of characters like Chris Taylor and Kikè Hernandez; the Dodgers holster a lot of ‘swiss army knife’ type players who can play all over the place.

For the time being, it sounds like Lux is in consideration to join that mix of players. Already thought to be a valuable offensive player in the future, Lux adding multiple-position versatility would positively impact his value if he can pull off adequate play in the outfield.

Finally, with talk of moving Lux to the outfield and plans involving A.J. Pollock in the works; where does this leave Joc Pederson?
