The Dodgers do not typically trade inside of their division — only on rare occasions. However, with the Colorado Rockies having their hands tied by terrible contracts, the Dodgers can provide them some relief if they happen to strike out in the free agent market. They can do this by acquiring third baseman Nolan Arenado.
Nolan Arenado to Los Angeles seems like a pretty crazy thought and that is because it actually is. Could it theoretically happen? Yes. Is it even remotely likely? No.
Arenado grew up in the greater Los Angeles area and could eventually come home and play for the Dodgers — it just might not be that time yet.

According to Tim Kelly of Radio.com, the Dodgers would be well-suited to try and acquire the perennial All-Star third baseman.
For as much success as they had at the major league level in the 2010s, the Dodgers have continued to develop talent extremely well. Catcher Keibert Ruiz, RHP Josiah Gray and shortstop Jeter Downs, all of whom are top 100 prospects, could make an interesting trade package.
Along with the Dodgers, Kelly mentions the Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, and Texas Rangers as solid fits.
Arenado is a superstar and while there are arguments that exist that he would not be as good away from Coors, he would still be a perennial Gold Glove third baseman and an All-Star caliber player if he played his home games in Southern California.
As the article mentions, a trade scenario of this ilk is very unlikely to come to fruition, but damn would Arenado looked good in Dodger blue.
