Dodgers: Cody Bellinger Named to All-MLB First Team by MLB Experts
Cody Bellinger had an excellent season and has been showered with awards and accolades because of it. The 24-year-old outfielder took home the National League’s Most Valuable Player Award, a Gold Glove in right field, and a Silver Slugger. He was more than deserving of each and every award he received.
While this is not an *official* award, it does present a nice opportunity to see what the media believes about certain players. According to Jeff Passan, Bellinger took home the honors as an All-MLB outfielder along with amazing names like Mike Trout and Christian Yelich, as voted by highly-regarded members of the media.

Interestingly enough, the Dodgers had no other recipients of this unofficial designation despite Hyun-Jin Ryu finishing as a runner-up for the National League Cy Young Award and Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw having excellent seasons. Instead, Gerrit Cole, Justin Verlander, Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, and Stephen Strasburg received recognition for MLB starting pitchers.
If this media award was voted on for each individual league, Max Muncy, Ryu, Buehler, and Kershaw likely would have garnered serious consideration.
For Max Muncy in particular, Passan stated that he was the victim of eligibility rules for the voting. Muncy was labeled as a utility player because of the innings he logged across the infield.
The idea that ESPN came up with for an All-MLB team is excellent considering the NFL has an All-Pro team selection and the NBA has an All-NBA squad.
