Dodgers Set to Host Winter Camp Series at Dodger Stadium
The Dodgers are gearing up to host their annual winter camp series at Dodger Stadium. The camp is divided into three different skill levels and two sessions. Moreover, it features on-field instruction from top prospects within the organization.
From the Dodgers website:
Spend the off-season at Dodger Stadium at the Dodgers Winter Camp Series! Athletes ages 7-18 will train on the field with instruction from top Dodgers minor league prospects. Learn the game from those who play at the highest level. Youth camps and a high school camp are available for ballplayers at every stage in the game from beginner to elite.
First, the skill level options are “youth fundamentals,” “youth advanced skills,” and “high school pro-style workout.” All options come with various price tags which can be viewed here.
Each skill level offers two different sessions (dates and times) with dates sprinkled throughout November through January.
Past prospects to participate in this series include 11 players now on the 40-man roster (9 of which played with the club this season). There are 4-6 prospects per camp.
One tricky component to this particular camp is that there is major construction underway at Dodger Stadium already. Of course, earlier this summer, the club announced a $100M renovation plan for an outfield plaza beyond the pavilions. In not unrelated news, that renovation plan is being met with some community pushback.
Nevertheless, this youth camp is a really cool offering from the organization. Even if it comes with a decent price tag, the opportunity for young players to learn tips and fundamentals from the best organization in baseball is pretty worth it.
One final note: a portion of the proceeds benefit the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation
