Dodgers: Andrew Friedman Finalizing Contract Extension

There is some good news coming out of the Dodgers’ off-season press conference this morning. According to JP Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group, current president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman has told the media that he will be inking a new deal to remain with the Dodgers’ front office.

This is fantastic news. While Friedman is given his share of the blame from the Dodgers’ fan base, he is an integral part to maintaining the Dodgers’ championship window. While the Dodgers have yet to win a World Series in the Friedman era, his presence in the front office represents a vast difference from the Ned Colletti era that came before it.

Friedman did a fantastic job as the head of the front office with former GM Farhan Zaidi leaving to take the job with the San Francisco Giants.

Andrew Friedman was hired by the Dodgers following the 2015 season and the Dodgers have won the division in each of those seasons and made two World Series appearances, albeit in losing fashion.

We will have to wait to find out the contract details regarding his extension with the Dodgers, but all in all, this is a fantastic move by ownership to work to bring him back. As previously mentioned, Friedman remains an integral to what the Dodgers are trying to do for the next decade — keep their championship window wide open.
