Dodgers: Joc Pederson Quotes Justin Timberlake To Talk Team Approach

While it’s well-known that Justin Timberlake is a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, it’s not every day that a Dodgers player pulls a quote from the artist.

Now, that’s no longer the case. Equally important, it’s not every day that we get to hear from Joc Pederson. Known for being a little more selective in doing interviews, Pederson spoke with David Vassegh of AM570 LA Sports about the importance of a ‘one game at a time’ mentality. And we got a Timberlake reference.

First, Pederson was asked about his individual success this season. Furthermore, he hit 36 home runs which represents a career high. Still, Pederson says that team success is the thought process.

“I don’t really judge it like that. You continue to learn and keep moving up on the steps, you’ve never really arrived if that makes sense; until you take the jersey off. You continue to sharpen the tool. Playing in a World Series will overtake any individual season.”

Then, Pederson got lyrical on all of us. The outfielder says that each day is a singular focus for both him and the rest of the team, crediting that culture with getting the Dodgers where they are today.

“It’s easy to look towards the future, but that’s not what got us where we are at. We will be ready on Thursday, but we have to focus on today. I think Justin Timberlake sang it best. What is it? Yesterday is a mystery, tomorrow is a mystery.”

Finally, it’s important to note how a person or group like the Dodgers deals with success. It can be wisely said that how one deals with success is just as important as achieving it. For this is what sustains. When you hear Pederson talk about his teammates and his approach towards each day, you realize this is a team that has been there before and is ready for the test ahead.
