Dodgers News: Justin Turner Set to Miss More Games

Dodgers’ starting third baseman Justin Turner will not have the opportunity to get more revenge against the team that released him as he is dealing with a mild ankle sprain.

The plan for Turner is to sit out the three-game series against the New York Mets and rejoin the lineup on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays, according to manager Dave Roberts.

With Max Muncy getting activated off the injured list today and the extra roster spaces for September, the Dodgers will have the option to be patient with Turner. Getting him healthy in time for the playoffs should be the key focus for the Dodgers. They have no reason to rush him back to the lineup.

However, Saturday would mark one week since his last game action, and with JT being notoriously timing driven in his approach at the plate, the timing could make this a bit more unfortunate if his absence extends into the next week.

Turner has 17 home runs in the second half with a .286 batting average.

On the season, Turner is hitting .291/.370/.514 with 27 home runs, 67 RBI, 80 runs scored and a 132 wRC+.
