Dodgers News: Max Muncy Activated Off of IL

Dodgers infielder Max Muncy was activated off the IL today as the team gets set to face the New York Mets in a three-game series to cap off their road trip.

Muncy was placed on the IL with a wrist injury on August 30 after being hit by a pitch against the San Diego Padres just a couple days before.

The Dodgers have gone 7-6 during the All Star’s absence but also secured the NL West and their spot in the postseason. Despite his and fellow teammate Alex Verdugo’s absence when the team clinched the division on Tuesday night, manager Dave Roberts made sure they were both included in the celebrations.

Muncy’s Return Important as Postseason Nears

Since his debut early in the 2018 season, Muncy has been a vital part of the Dodgers’ success. Just from this season alone, he boasts 33 home runs with 87 RBI and a .899 OPS.

Despite enduring somewhat of a slump over the past month or so, in which he batted .188 in the last 28 days, the team hopes Muncy’s bat gets hot as they gear up for the postseason.

Even with the NL West already locked up, the Dodgers are still battling with the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros for home-field advantage, should they meet either in the Fall Classic. They’re currently tied with the Astros and are two games back of the Yankees.

With Muncy back at full health and producing at his highest level, the Dodgers may be positioned to finally take home that elusive World Series title this year.
