Dodgers: Justin Turner Remains Out of Lineup with Injury

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke to the media prior to Friday night’s game against the Orioles and according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, things appear somewhat strange.

Roberts has stated the Justin Turner took X-rays on his injured left ankle in Los Angeles, but that the results were ‘inconclusive’. Because of this, Turner will take the next step in trying to determine what is wrong with the ankle and will undergo an MRI tonight or tomorrow morning.

Turner’s ankle injury was one that did not raise eyebrows mid-game and that is why this injury is strange. Turner supposedly believes that he injured it when making a diving stop, which could actually be an encouraging sign considering he was able to continue playing on it.

Here is a quote directly from Dave Roberts regarding Turner’s injury, courtesy of Bill Plunkett:

“The X-rays in LA were inconclusive. So I guess that could be taken as a good thing. But symptomatically, it just doesn’t feel right.”

You can only hope that there is not an inauspicious end to this story with October looming. With rookie outfielder Alex Verdugo already on the shelf for the long-term, a loss of Turner would come at an even greater magnitude. Simply put, Turner is the glue that fits the lineup together.

On the season, Turner has posted a .291 batting average and .884 on-base plus slugging across 131 games of play.
