BREAKING: Major Injury Update for Clippers vs. Timberwolves Game

The LA Clippers may get a major reinforcement vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves

Having been without their starting center for the last two games, the LA Clippers could be getting Ivica Zubac back for Tuesday night’s matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The veteran big man has been upgraded to questionable for this game vs. Minnesota, clearing the way for a potential return if everything goes right between now and then.

Zubac has been a defensive anchor for the Clippers all season, often covering for poor defenders in both the starting lineup and bench groups. With the Clippers playing much of the season without a backup center, Zubac has often been removed midway through the first quarter, and brought back as a defensive anchor for three-guard bench groups. His defensive responsibilities have been off the charts, and the Clippers have struggled mightily on that end in his two-game absence.

With Zubac potentially returning, this will move Mason Plumlee back to the bench, and give the Clippers more stability with their rotations. Russell Westbrook has not yet had an opportunity to play alongside Zubac, as his addition was met with Zubac’s injury absence.

Having dropped their last two games, the Clippers are in danger of falling into the play-in picture. There is a scenario on Tuesday that results in the Clippers falling to 7th with a loss to Minnesota, so the urgency will presumably be high for LA. The team is hopeful that Zubac will return in time for this crucial game.
