The LA Clippers announced that Russell Westbrook will play vs. the Sacramento Kings
Having practiced twice with his new team, Russell Westbrook will make his LA Clippers debut on Friday against the Sacramento Kings. Westbrook signed with the Clippers on Wednesday, and practiced with the team on Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon. The Clippers announced on Thursday evening that Westbrook is available for Friday’s game vs. the Kings, and will make his debut.
This is a big game for the Clippers, as they currently sit just one game behind Sacramento in the standings. The third seed is very much in play for the Clippers, and this game would go a long way towards helping secure it. The Clippers have little time to waste, having struggled through the easy portion of their schedule, but they truly feel as if Westbrook can make an immediate impact.
This game against the Kings will start a stretch of six-straight crucial games against Western Conference opponents. With such little space in between seeds 3-10, every single game is vital, especially those against Western Conference teams.
When asked on Wednesday about joining the Clippers, Westbrook said, “The dialogue is just about winning… I think the most important part, the ultimate goal is to win a championship and we know what we have to do to do that.”
When asked about how excited he is for this new opportunity, Westbrook added, “I’m super excited, man. I’m just exicted to get back to playing. I love to play basketball. Not just that, but love to have fun while doing it.”
The former league MVP will make his Clipper debut in a massive game on Friday.
