Former Clippers Player Reacts to Russell Westbrook Signing

Former Lakers guard Russell Westbrook is heading to the LA Clippers

The LA Clippers are expected to sign Russell Westbrook after he finalizes a buyout with the Utah Jazz. The former Los Angeles Lakers guard will have an opportunity to compete for a championship alongside Paul George, who he played with in Oklahoma City for two seasons.

After it was announced that Westbrook would be staying in Los Angeles, former Clippers guard Jamal Crawford reacted to the news on Twitter:

Crawford played with the Clippers from 2012-2017, winning two Sixth Man of the Year awards in Los Angeles. Now retired, Crawford is an analyst on TNT, and a regular advocate for current players around the league. One of the most respected figures in the NBA, Crawford is always showing love to both current and former players.

It makes sense why Crawford would love this fit for Westbrook, because the nine-time All-Star and former league MVP now has an opportunity to compete for a title while remaining home in Los Angeles. Having maintained a close relationship with Clippers star Paul George since their time as teammates in Oklahoma City, Westbrook also gets to reunite with his close friend as they pursue a championship together.

There are several reasons to be skeptical about Westbrook’s fit with the Clippers, but there are also reasons to be optimistic as well. Should he rejuvenate himself in this new situation, it will be an exciting time for himself and his new team.
