The Western Conference was already stacked with talent, and it got even better at the trade deadline. With Kevin Durant going to the Phoenix Suns and Kyrie Irving going to the Dallas Mavericks, two of the West’s best teams added some serious star power. LA Clippers star Paul George was asked on Tuesday night about those two trades, and how his team matches up with the rest of the conference.

Keeping the focus primarily on the Clippers, George said, “I like how we look. I think we match up with anybody, but it’s gonna be a challenge regardless. I think we got the personnel to really go out there and compete and measure ourselves against anybody… It’s gonna come down to best of seven for every team in the West.”

George added that it will ultimately come down to which team performs best in a seven-game setting, and admitted there will be no easy matchups. With players like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving now in the conference, it feels likely that the Clippers will have to go through one or both of the former Nets stars if they want to reach their ultimate goal of winning a championship.

The Clippers still have a lot to prove before they can be considered serious contenders, but they have made some solid moves that should improve their chances of reaching that tier. There is one game left before the All-Star break for LA, and they will look to end on a high note before recharging for the last 20 games.
