Kyrie Irving is set to make his Dallas Mavericks debut on Wednesday night against the LA Clippers, but it will come without Luka Doncic. The superstar guard has been ruled out for this matchup with a heel contusion, and will miss his new teammate’s debut.

Along with the absence of Doncic, the Mavericks have also ruled out Davis Bertans and Maxi Kleber. The only other name on the injury report for Dallas is Frank Ntilikina, who is questionable with an illness.

For the Clippers, their injury report is almost entirely clean, as John Wall is the only player who has been ruled out. Wall has been sidelined for nearly a month now with what the team is calling abdominal soreness. Outside of his absence, the Clippers will be fully healthy.

This is a massive game for both teams, as it contains immediate seeding and tiebreaker implications. Currently up 2-1 in the season series, the Clippers could clinch the tiebreak over Dallas with a win in this one. Should Dallas win, they would tie the season series, allowing a potential tiebreaker scenario come down to conference record, which is an edge that currently lies with Dallas.

In addition to the tiebreaker impact, a Mavericks win would put them percentage points ahead of the Clippers in the standings. The Western Conference standings are shifting daily, but the Clippers would love to create a bit of separation between themselves and Dallas, rather than falling from 4th to 6th in a single game.

With Luka Doncic sidelined, there is no reason for the Clippers to lose this game.
