Report: Kyrie Irving Will Make Mavericks Debut vs. LA Clippers

After being traded from the Brooklyn Nets, Kyrie will make his Dallas Mavericks debut vs. the Clippers

The Dallas Mavericks shocked the NBA world on Sunday afternoon when they traded for Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving. Dallas has now gone all-in on pairing superstar guard Luka Doncic with another All-Star, as they hope to contend in a presently weak Western Conference.

While the final logistics still need to be completed in order for Irving to become eligible to play for his new team, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Irving is expected to make his Mavericks debut against the LA Clippers on Wednesday.

The game is already scheduled to be nationally televised on ESPN, and should draw massive viewership with fans around the world wanting to see the Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic duo face off with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Clippers and Mavericks have had some great battles over the years, and this one projects to be one of their more intriguing games.

The Clippers were also reportedly pursuing a Kyrie Irving trade, having been named by Wojnarowski as one of the teams in the hunt. It was ultimate the package from Dallas that Brooklyn liked the most, with the Mavericks also being a landing place that Irving was excited about.

This deal shakes up the landscape of both conferences, as now the Mavericks believe they can truly contend, while the Nets must figure out how to re-tool around Kevin Durant and their new pieces. For now, all eyes are turned to Wednesday night’s matchup between the Clippers and Mavericks.
