The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly agreed to a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday Morning. The Lakers will receive Dennis Schröder in exchange for the No. 28 pick in the 2020 NBA draft. The trade is not yet official as the Lakers are unable to trade away their draft pick until the draft itself.

There were rumors that Danny Green could be involved in the trade to OKC, though it’s not yet clear if that’s the case.
The trade for Dennis Schröder may have come during a perfect time for the Lakers as they believe they will lose Rajon Rondo to free agency. Schröder is coming off of a very productive year for the rebuilding Thunder. He should immediately slide into the Lakers’ 6th man and replace Rondo as a playmaker on the court. He’ll also provide Los Angeles with a needed scorer off of the bench to help them defend their title.

Lakers are smart. They have probably the best one-two punch in the league so there is no need to add another big name. Adding lower cost players to an already solid supporting cast makes them so much better.

Adding Schröder undeniably improves the Lakers’ roster for next season. With two stars in Anthony Davis and LeBron James, the Lakers played it smart and acquired a worthy player who can feed them the ball as well as take his shots when needed.
